TTD Plans AI Support to Improve Garden Maintenance in Tirumala

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is considering the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the development and maintenance of gardens in Tirumala, a temple official said on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference at the Media Centre in Rambageecha-2, TTD Garden Deputy Director Srinivasulu said Tirumala has 34 gardens, of which 20 are maintained by donors and 14 by the temple administration. AI-enabled support is expected to help improve garden development and maintenance, although the organisation has not yet announced a specific implementation schedule, budget or details of the technology to be deployed.

Srinivasulu said devotees appreciated the elaborate floral decorations arranged during the recent Srivari Brahmotsavams. Around 30 donors came forward to support the initiative. The decorations used approximately 60 tonnes of flowers, five lakh cut flowers and 80,000 seasonal flowers, according to the official.

The floral arrangements at GNC also attracted devotees. The decorations were changed on key occasions, including the opening day, Garuda Seva day and the seventh day of the festivities. The initiative received support from senior officials, while Garden Department staff played an important role in executing the arrangements.

The fruit-and-flower exhibition at Kalyana Vedika featured 24 concept-based floral displays designed to kindle children's interest in the Puranas through creative presentations.

TTD has also undertaken flower cultivation activities in Tirumala and Tirupati, with earlier reports highlighting the cultivation of ornamental and cut flowers across more than 100 acres and around 200 flower varieties. These figures relate to earlier reports and were not reconfirmed in the latest announcement.

TTD manages 12 temples and their sub-shrines and employs approximately 14,000 people, according to its website. The proposed AI initiative could support the temple body's continuing efforts to maintain its gardens and floral displays.
