TTD Gets Major Green Boost with ₹1.13-Crore Electric Bus
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has expanded its eco-friendly transportation network with the induction of a new electric bus aimed at promoting sustainable mobility in Tirumala.
The vehicle, valued at around ₹1.13 crore , was donated by Neera Radia , Chairperson of a New Delhi-based healthcare and research organization. She also contributed 15 advanced tablets worth ₹20 lakh to support the digitalization of pilgrim services.
The bus was formally handed over to TTD during a ceremony at Tirumala on Saturday. Following traditional rituals and prayers, Radia presented the vehicle’s keys and documents to TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu and Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary. Officials later inspected the bus and its facilities.
TTD said the donations would enhance both pilgrim services and its ongoing environmental conservation initiatives. The newly inducted vehicle joins the free Dharma Ratham transport fleet, taking the number of electric buses in service to 14 out of a total fleet of 20 .
Operating across 21 bus stops , the electric buses collectively run nearly 380 trips daily , providing free and convenient transportation for devotees across the hill town.
As part of its green mobility roadmap, TTD plans to replace the remaining 6 diesel buses with electric vehicles, with the goal of making Tirumala’s internal transport system completely pollution-free.
