TSRTC Gears Up for Medaram Sammakka–Sarlamma Festival with Mega Transport Plans

The largest tribal festival in Asia , the Medaram Sammakka–Sarlamma Mahajatara 2026, is set to welcome thousands of devotees, and the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has made extensive arrangements to ensure a safe and convenient pilgrimage . Special bus services will operate from January 25 to February 1 , ahead of the festival, which runs from January 28 to 31 .

A total of 4,000 special RTC buses will run from all districts, including Hyderabad, to Medaram. In the former districts of Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, and Khammam, authorities have identified 51 major traffic-generating points , providing continuous bus services from these locations.

To efficiently manage the massive crowd, a temporary bus station has been set up on 50 acres , featuring 50 queue lines spanning 9 kilometers and facilities to accommodate 20,000 passengers at a time . Additionally, a 25.76-acre parking area has been arranged to accommodate 1,000 buses .

A total of 10,441 personnel including drivers, conductors, security staff, and officials have been deployed for festival operations. For traffic control and safety, 76 CCTV cameras , a command control center , patrolling jeeps , and two-wheeler units will be in operation.

Under the state government’s Mahalakshmi Free Bus Travel Scheme , an estimated 2 million women devotees are expected to travel free of charge on TSRTC buses. For the comfort of pilgrims, arrangements have been made at the temporary bus station for drinking water, restrooms, medical camps, and ambulances .

Officials confirmed that the Telangana government and TSRTC are fully committed to ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of the Medaram Jatara. Every effort has been made to make this pilgrimage a memorable and secure experience for all devotees.
