The Samrat Choudhary -led NDA government in Bihar comfortably secured a vote of confidence in the state assembly on Friday, underlining its strong majority in the House.

The motion, moved by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary himself, stated that “the House reposes its trust in the current council of ministers in the state” and was taken up during a one-day special session of the Bihar Assembly.

The confidence motion was passed through a voice vote in the 243-member House , where the ruling BJP-led NDA enjoys a decisive strength of 202 members , ensuring an easy passage for the government.

Samrat Choudhary recently became the first BJP leader to head a government in Bihar , following the resignation of JD(U) president Nitish Kumar , who stepped down from the chief minister’s post after being elected to the Rajya Sabha.

In the new cabinet, only two JD(U) leaders, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav , were inducted and given the responsibility of deputy chief ministers , reflecting the coalition’s power-sharing arrangement.

The NDA alliance in Bihar includes the BJP , JD(U) , LJP (Ram Vilas) led by Union minister Chirag Paswan, HAM headed by Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and RLM led by Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha.

Together, the five-party coalition secured 202 seats in the assembly elections held in November last year, consolidating its position as a dominant political force in the state.

The successful trust vote is seen as a formal reaffirmation of the government’s stability and its mandate to continue governance in Bihar with a strong legislative backing.
