Trump’s Son-In-Law Michael Boulos Arrives In Kochi, Takes Rainy Houseboat Ride In Alappuzha
US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Michael Boulos arrived in Kochi on Saturday for a private visit and later travelled to Alappuzha with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor.
Boulos, who is married to Trump’s daughter Tiffany Trump, has been given State Guest status during his Kerala visit. He travelled with a delegation as police made tight security arrangements for him.
In Alappuzha, Boulos took a houseboat ride through the rain hit backwaters. Heavy rain had flooded the main entrance to Punamada Lake, so police made other arrangements for him to reach the boat.
Despite the rain, Boulos went ahead with the ride. He waved at people gathered along the route and appeared to enjoy the short trip.
His visit comes ahead of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, which will be held in Alappuzha on August 22. He was also expected to see snake boat practice.
Gor, who has been friends with Boulos for nearly a decade, is accompanying him during the visit. The US Embassy said Boulos is in India for the second time this year to meet Gor and is travelling in his personal capacity, not on an official visit.
Gor has also shared moments from his India trips with the Trump family on social media. During Boulos and Tiffany’s earlier India visit in May, the couple visited Akshardham Temple in Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra and Jaisalmer Fort.
And then came a lighter talking point online. Some netizens looking at pictures from Boulos’ earlier India trip and his Kerala visit noticed that he appeared to be wearing a very similar, if not the same, T-shirt. That sparked a few playful comments online, with some joking that Boulos may have found his favourite travel T-shirt and simply decided to stick with it.
Earlier, reports claimed Boulos had met Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan. The Chief Minister’s Office denied this and said Satheesan had held an official meeting with Ambassador Gor. It said reports of a meeting with Boulos were incorrect. Boulos is expected to return to Kochi.
