Trump sets 10-15 day ultimatum for Iran on nuclear deal, warns of “unfortunate” consequences

US President Donald Trump has issued a firm ultimatum to Iran , saying Tehran must agree to a new nuclear deal with Washington within the next 10-15 days or face serious repercussions . The warning comes amid one of the most significant American military buildups in West Asia in recent years, as diplomatic efforts and regional tensions intensify.

Interacting with reporters in Washington, Trump said, “We’re either going to get a deal, or it’s going to be unfortunate for them… 10-15 days would be enough time.” He repeated a similar message at a meeting of the Board of Peace , stating that Iran must choose a path of cooperation or face a “very different path” if it refuses to align with US expectations.

The US President stressed that Tehran cannot continue to destabilise the region and insisted that a deal is necessary to prevent further escalation. “They must make a deal. Or if that doesn’t happen, bad things will happen,” Trump said, indicating that Washington’s approach could harden if negotiations fail.

Reports suggest that the United States has significantly reinforced its military presence in West Asia. According to international media, the buildup includes dozens of refueling tankers, more than 50 additional fighter jets, and two aircraft carrier strike groups with accompanying destroyers and submarines. The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford is moving toward the region to join USS Abraham Lincoln , further strengthening the American naval presence.

Air defence systems, including Patriot missile defence and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence system, have also reportedly been positioned to counter potential ballistic missile threats. Sources familiar with the matter have indicated that the US military is prepared for possible strikes, though Trump has not yet taken a final decision.

Trump has repeatedly demanded that Iran abandon its nuclear ambitions, including halting uranium enrichment. The latest ultimatum signals that the coming days could prove decisive, with the possibility of either a renewed diplomatic breakthrough or a sharp escalation in tensions that may impact the wider region.
