Trivikram’s mythological epic faces casting twist as Allu Arjun emerges front runner over Jr. NTR

What began as a grand announcement with Jr. NTR now appears to be turning into one of the most talked about casting shake ups in Telugu cinema. Director Trivikram Srinivas’ ambitious mythological film on Lord Karthikeya is reportedly witnessing a change in plans, with Allu Arjun emerging as the preferred choice for the lead role.

Producer Naga Vamsi had officially announced the project in June 2025 , stating that Jr. NTR would headline the film after Trivikram completed his current family entertainer Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 , which is scheduled for a summer 2026 release . At the time, the film was positioned as a large-scale devotional epic, designed for a massive pan India audience.

However, industry buzz now suggests that date issues are complicating Jr. NTR’s involvement . The actor is said to be tied up with multiple commitments, including Dragon , leaving little room in his calendar for a long schedule that a mythological film typically demands.

Sources indicate that Trivikram is keen on Allu Arjun instead , especially after the historic success of Pushpa 2 , which reportedly crossed ₹1,700 crore worldwide . The director believes Bunny’s current pan India appeal could help the Karthikeya epic comfortably aim for the ₹1,000 crore club , turning it into a nationwide spectacle rather than just a regional success.

That said, Allu Arjun’s schedule is not entirely free either. He is expected to work with Lokesh Kanagaraj on AA23 , meaning adjustments would be required if he signs on for Trivikram’s film.
