Trisha's CM Vijay Birthday Post Turns 'CM Cake' Into Chennai's Sweetest Trend
A simple mango vanilla cake served at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay's 52nd birthday celebration has turned into Chennai's sweetest viral sensation. What started as a private birthday dessert is now popularly known as the "CM Cake," with customers flocking to a local bakery asking for it by name after Trisha Krishnan's viral birthday post.
The craze began when Trisha shared a picture from Vijay's June 22 birthday celebration, captioning it, "To the person who makes it all worthy. HBD." The post quickly dominated social media, with fans not only discussing the duo's chemistry but also identifying every cake seen in the photo.
One of them, a mango vanilla cake baked by Chennai based Tanvi Bokaria , became an overnight hit. Speaking to India Today, Bokaria said her bakery sold 300 to 400 identical cakes within just two weeks.
"It was overnight fame for us. We had no idea what occasion the cake was for. The last two weeks have been extremely chaotic, but we're grateful," she said, adding that her team are huge Vijay fans. The dessert is no longer ordered as a mango cake, with customers simply asking for the "CM Cake," making it the bakery's highest selling single cake ever.
Fans also claimed to have identified the other desserts in the picture, saying the tiramisu cake came from Hyderabad's Patisserie Conçu , while the strawberry white chocolate cake was from Chennai's The Chef House , though these identifications remain unofficial.
The viral photo also reignited speculation about Vijay and Trisha's relationship. Some fans claimed the five cakes symbolised five years of their alleged relationship, while viral comments included, "First in my bloodline to witness an open affair of a CM." Neither Vijay nor Trisha has responded to the rumours, which intensified following reports about Vijay's divorce proceedings with estranged wife Sangeetha Sornalingam . The relationship claims remain unverified, but the "CM Cake" has already become Chennai's latest celebrity-inspired food trend.
