Treated like a terrorist in jail: MP Mithun Reddy

Rajampet MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy, who was recently released after spending nearly 71 days in Rajahmundry Central Jail in connection with a liquor-related case, has made startling claims about his treatment in custody. Speaking to the media in Tirupati on Wednesday, he alleged that he was constantly monitored and treated like a “terrorist” during his detention.

Mithun Reddy said that his jail cell was equipped with CCTV cameras, which, according to him, were being observed by certain senior officials from Vijayawada and Hyderabad. He claimed that jail authorities restricted his interaction with fellow inmates, confining him to a single block and allowing communication only with family members during official visits.

The MP expressed distress over the way he was treated, stating that even officials hesitated to speak with him directly. He added that any attempt to converse with neighboring prisoners was discouraged, implying that his every move was under surveillance.

Despite these harsh conditions, Mithun Reddy said he remained determined and resilient, returning to the public with courage. He urged attention to the circumstances he faced, highlighting the need for transparency and fair treatment of individuals in custody.
