Travel Home Stress-Free This Sankranti: RTC Charges Waived in Andhra Pradesh
On the occasion of the Sankranti festival , the Andhra Pradesh government has provided significant relief to travelers heading to their hometowns. Considering the heavy festival rush , the government has decided that no additional charges will be levied on RTC buses , said State Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy . In a statement, he clarified that the special charges usually imposed during festivals are being waived this year , allowing passengers to reach their destinations at regular fares .
The minister also highlighted that the government’s prestigious free bus travel facility for women will continue as usual during the festival period. He described the absence of any fare increase in RTC buses as a “festival gift” from the government to travelers. The government’s aim, he said, is to ensure that people can travel comfortably to their homes without any financial burden during the festivities.
Meanwhile, the minister issued a stern warning to private travel operators. He cautioned that any attempt by private bus owners to exploit passengers by charging extra illegally will face strict action . Officials have been directed to immediately seize buses found collecting fares in violation of regulations. A special monitoring system has also been set up by the transport department to oversee private bus services and fares .
For those traveling in personal or private vehicles , the minister advised strict adherence to road safety rules . He urged travelers to control their speed, drive cautiously , and celebrate the festival joyfully with their families.
