Tragedy in Kakinada: Monkey Attack Claims Elderly Woman’s Life

In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old woman lost her life after being attacked by a troop of monkeys in Peddipalem village of Prathipadu mandal in Kakinada district on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Danaboyina Chinnabulli (65) .

According to reports, Chinnabulli was returning home from agricultural work near her daughter’s residence on the outskirts of the village when a group of around 20 monkeys suddenly attacked her. In a bid to escape, she fell to the ground, following which the monkeys bit and severely injured her . She suffered heavy blood loss and collapsed on the spot, succumbing to her injuries.

Chinnabulli had been living with her daughter’s family near their three-acre agricultural land on the village outskirts.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Peddipalem village. Residents said that the menace of monkeys has increased significantly in recent times, with animals damaging crops and entering homes, causing distress. They alleged that despite repeated complaints to authorities, no action was taken , and blamed official negligence for the loss of life. Locals noted that this is the first reported human fatality due to monkey attacks in the area.

Villagers demanded that the Forest Department take immediate steps to control the monkey menace and urged the government to provide compensation to the bereaved family .

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
