Traffic Police Inspector Collapses on Duty, Shinde Rushes Him to Hospital

A traffic police inspector deployed for security duty with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s convoy collapsed at a helipad here on Friday and was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors said his condition was stable.

The incident took place at the Saket Helipad when Shinde returned to the city after visiting actor Nana Patekar’s residence in Pune for Ganpati darshan, according to a release issued by the Deputy Chief Minister’s office.

Traffic Police Inspector Sanjay Nalavade, who had been on duty with Shinde’s convoy since early morning, reportedly fainted and collapsed shortly after Shinde’s helicopter landed at the helipad.

Members of the convoy immediately shifted Nalavade to an ambulance. Shinde accompanied the police official to a private hospital in the city to ensure he received prompt medical attention, the release said.

Doctors at the hospital later examined Nalavade and said his condition was stable. Further details about what caused him to collapse were not immediately available.

The incident has drawn attention as it comes just a week after another police officer assigned to Shinde’s convoy died following a sudden cardiac arrest.

Police Inspector Vijay Sangade, who was also deployed for security duties with the Deputy Chief Minister’s convoy, died last week after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

The back-to-back incidents involving personnel assigned to the convoy have highlighted the demanding nature of security duties, particularly for officers deployed for extended hours.

Nalavade had reportedly been performing security-related duties since early morning before he collapsed at the helipad.

The Deputy Chief Minister’s office said Shinde personally accompanied the officer to the hospital after he fell unconscious, ensuring that he was taken for immediate medical evaluation.
