TPCC Cheif Accuses Centre of Commercialising Education, Seeks Exam Reforms

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday accused the Central government of commercialising the country's education system and failing to safeguard the interests of students by allowing repeated irregularities in competitive examinations.

Addressing the 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' programme at Boinpally in Hyderabad, Goud said recurring paper leaks and flaws in the conduct of recruitment and entrance examinations have undermined the credibility of the education system and left lakhs of students anxious about their future. He alleged that the Centre had failed to establish a foolproof mechanism to ensure fair and transparent examinations.

The event was attended by Government Whip Dr Balmoori Venkat , MLA Ganesh , former Union Minister Venugopal Chary , Corporation Chairpersons, Congress leaders, students and youth representatives.

Taking aim at the Union government, Goud alleged that despite widespread criticism over the NEET paper leak controversy and other examination-related irregularities, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had neither resigned nor been held accountable. He said students and job aspirants continue to bear the consequences of repeated lapses in the examination system.

He added that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched the nationwide 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign to amplify students' concerns and press for reforms in the education sector. The Congress campaign focuses on issues such as examination irregularities, rising education costs, transparency in recruitment, and greater accountability in the administration of public examinations.

Speaking at the programme, Dr Balmoori Venkat said the alleged NEET paper leak had caused immense distress to lakhs of students and their families, many of whom spend years preparing for highly competitive entrance tests. He demanded the immediate resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan , saying the Union minister should take moral responsibility for the lapses.

Venkat also called for a transparent, technology-driven examination system , stricter safeguards against paper leaks and swift action against those involved in examination malpractice. He urged students and young people to actively participate in efforts aimed at strengthening the integrity of India's education and recruitment systems.

The 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign, launched by the Congress across the country, seeks to build public support for education reforms and highlight concerns over examination integrity, student welfare and employment opportunities. It includes public outreach programmes, student interactions and campaigns demanding greater accountability in the education sector.
