Toxic fever outbreak at Nellore gurukul school

Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has called for an emergency meeting and ordered a rapid response to a suspected outbreak of "toxic fever" at the Atmakur Girls' Gurukul School in Nellore. The minister held a teleconference with the district collector and officials from various departments, including revenue, police, education, and municipal services, instructing them to immediately dispatch teams to the school.

The outbreak has reportedly affected around 40 students, causing widespread concern. According to the school's principal, symptoms ranged in severity, leading to 20 students being sent home for treatment, while another 20 are currently being monitored and treated on campus. In an immediate response, a medical camp was set up at the school on Friday, where doctors provided initial treatment, and municipal staff initiated extensive sanitization work to curb the spread. The principal has voiced suspicions that the fever is linked to a nearby dumping yard, which poses a significant health risk to the students.

Minister Reddy's directives were clear and urgent. He ordered that all students with severe fever symptoms be immediately transferred to a district hospital for specialized medical care. He also issued a stern warning to all concerned officials, emphasizing the need for special precautions regarding the food served to the students. "Strict action will be taken if anyone is found to be negligent in this matter," the minister stated, underscoring the government's commitment to the students' well-being. Following his orders, the district administration has deployed multiple medical teams to the location to assess the situation and ensure all necessary measures are in place to contain the outbreak and prevent further illness.
