Tours in the name of study?

There is no change in Visakhapatnam even if the YCP is gone and the alliance comes. The alliance leaders who severely criticized the corporators' study tour during the YCP regime have now embarked on a study trip at a higher cost. Despite knowing that Chandrababu Naidu is coming to Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, all the corporators of Telugu Desam boarded the flights for the yatra on Tuesday.

With this name, the gathering of the alliance leaders in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is going on endlessly. The leaders of the alliance, who have already collected money in the name of the standing committee, are now making more money by imposing targets in the name of corporators' study trips. There have been accusations that the leaders who are playing a key role in GVMC are charging too much by imposing department wise targets

In fact, after the alliance leaders took over the reins of GVMC, they did not even start a new project. Moreover, one or two leaders are dividing the zone in the name of chicken waste and selling it to the owners of many fish and fertilizer ponds. GVMC's reputation has been thrown on the road by complaining against each other. Criticisms are also being heard that 10 percent commission has been collected for approving works in the name of standing committee. Allegations that the Commission was divided into 12 shares became a big topic of discussion. Besides, they are taking lakhs upon lakhs from the builders as if they have to pay this amount per floor for unauthorized buildings. Allegations are pouring in that the key leader of GVMC is being heavily punished for the postings as well.

Huge collections in the name of the tour

As if these were not enough, now the officials of GVMC as well as the contractors are getting angry over the imposition of targets even in the name of tour. It seems that heavy targets have been set for town planning and public health as well as revenue officials. Officially, one crore 53 lakh rupees has already been released from the GVMC treasury for this tour... There are allegations that another crore rupees has been collected unofficially.

Criticism is being heard that officials of all departments like engineering, town planning, mechanical, revenue, public health and UCD have been called and targets have been set to collect and give this amount. From the 16th to the 24th of this month, the GVMC corporators left for Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmar and Delhi on a study trip on Tuesday. 15 people, including Corporator Peethala Murthyadav of Janasena and CPM Corporator Ganga Rao, who have opposed this trip since the beginning, are staying away.

Pocket money for corporators

However, as the corporators are going on a tour, it seems that the alliance has come down to these collections to give some amount to the corporators for expenses. It is known that 50 thousand to one lakh rupees will be given as pocket money to each corporator. Criticisms are also pouring in from some sections that the said key leader has been given a huge amount. It seems that a total of one crore rupees was collected in this way.

In fact, opposition is increasing day by day from the leaders of the own party as well as the corporators of the alliance against the behavior of the key leader in the GVMC. There are allegations that the leader who initially pretended to be friendly with everyone, is now close to everyone. In addition, they are burning inside to deal with their own team regardless of who is involved in the matter of collection.

In this background, it is reported that the responsibility of this collection has been entrusted to three people who were angry with his behavior till now. So it seems that they are using this tour to reduce the opposition. Literally, it seems that they have charged a lot of money with the aim of collecting crores of rupees. It seems that officials in Public Health, Town Planning, Revenue and Engineering Departments who are already facing corruption charges have been identified and entrusted with the collection responsibilities.

In the year 2023, when Chandrababu Naidu, who was the leader of the opposition, was arrested and moved to Rajahmundry Jail, Telugu Desam Party corporators left for a tour from Visakha. The party's corporators went on a vacation at a time when Telugu Desam leaders and activists were protesting against Chandrababu's arrest. Now Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with Chief Minister Chandrababu came to Visakhapatnam on Wednesday to participate in various programs.

However, when the CM is coming to the city, as per the protocol, the mayor has to welcome the first citizen of the city. However, on the day before the CM's visit, mayor Pila Srinivasa Rao and the corporators of the party went on a trip by plane, criticism was being expressed within the party itself. As the first citizen of the city, they are complaining about going on a tour without welcoming the CM. It seems that the leaders of their own party, who are already upset about the mayor's behavior, will complain directly to CM Chandrababu on the same issue.
