Tom Hiddleston returns as Jonathan Pine in first look from ‘The Night Manager’ Season 2
Eight years after its award-winning debut, the gripping espionage thriller The Night Manager is making a grand return. Streaming giant Prime Video and the BBC have released the first-look images of the much-awaited second season, bringing back Tom Hiddleston as the enigmatic former intelligence operative Jonathan Pine.
Based on John le Carré’s acclaimed novel, the original 2016 series followed Pine, a luxury hotel night manager who becomes embroiled in a dangerous undercover mission to expose an international arms dealer. The show was hailed for its sleek storytelling, stellar performances, and cinematic production earning multiple Emmys, Golden Globes, and BAFTAs, including a Best Actor award for Hiddleston.
A Fresh Chapter in Pine’s Story
Season 2, set in the present day, picks up years after the explosive finale of the first installment. Pine is now living under a new identity as Alex Goodwin, a low-level MI6 officer quietly running a surveillance unit in London. But when ghosts from his past resurface, his seemingly calm life spirals back into a world of deceit and danger.
The new chapter promises a fresh, original storyline rather than a direct continuation of le Carré’s novel, with a modern geopolitical backdrop framing Pine’s return to the shadows.
Returning and New Faces
Alongside Hiddleston, Olivia Colman returns as the determined intelligence agent Angela Burr, while new cast members Camila Morrone ( Daisy Jones & The Six ) and Diego Calva ( Babylon ) join the ensemble. The series is directed by Georgi Banks-Davies, taking over from the first season’s acclaimed director Susanne Bier.
Release and Availability
The Night Manager Season 2 is slated to premiere in 2025, streaming on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Prime Video internationally.
