Streaming platform Netflix has announced the premiere of its upcoming Hindi dark comedy Toaster on April 15 , headlined by Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra.

Directed by debutant Vivek Das Chaudhary, the film centres on an unusual premise: a frugal man becomes obsessively attached to a toaster gifted during a wedding that ultimately gets called off. What begins as a seemingly trivial fixation soon spirals into a series of bizarre, chaotic, and darkly comic situations, as the protagonist’s refusal to part with the appliance triggers unintended consequences that ripple through his personal life.

The film explores themes of attachment, material obsession, and human eccentricities, using satire and absurdity to derive humour from everyday circumstances. As tensions escalate, the narrative unfolds into a layered comedy marked by unpredictable twists and sharply observed character dynamics.

Toaster also features a strong ensemble cast, including Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa.

The project marks the production debut of Patralekhaa under Kampa Film, a banner she has launched with Rao. Positioned as a quirky addition to Netflix’s 2026 slate, the film underscores the platform’s continued focus on unconventional storytelling and emerging directorial voices.
