The Tamil Nadu government has launched a major initiative to bring cutting-edge technology into classrooms through the TN SPARK programme. Under this scheme, government school students from Classes VI to IX are being introduced to artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, coding, and digital tools to help them develop future-ready skills.

In its first phase, the programme has been rolled out in Coimbatore district, where students are gaining hands-on experience in AI applications, robotics kits, and online collaborative platforms. Special labs equipped with computers and digital learning tools have been set up, while teachers are undergoing dedicated training to guide students through this new learning environment.

The initiative also focuses on bridging the digital divide, ensuring that children from rural and underprivileged backgrounds receive equal exposure to emerging technologies. Bilingual learning material in English and Tamil is being provided to make the lessons more accessible.

Officials noted that TN SPARK will expand gradually to more districts, aiming to prepare students not just for exams, but also for the rapidly evolving job market. By fostering curiosity and problem-solving skills, the programme seeks to turn classrooms into hubs of innovation and creativity.
