TN Police Crack Rs 1 Crore YouTuber Home Burglary, Recover Stolen Valuables

Tamil Nadu Police have arrested the prime suspect in the burglary at the home of a YouTuber near here and recovered a significant portion of the valuables stolen in the high-profile break-in, an official said.

District Superintendent of Police Anshul Nagar said investigative teams apprehended the accused following a detailed probe into the burglary at Thammathukonam.

The incident took place on Thursday night when YouTuber Madhumitha, her husband and their child had gone out shopping. Taking advantage of their absence, burglars allegedly entered the house after cutting open the rear door lock with a specialised tool.

The intruders then broke open a bedroom wardrobe and fled with nearly 118 sovereigns of gold, diamond jewellery and cash. The stolen valuables were collectively estimated to be worth around Rs 1 crore, police said.

Following the incident, five special teams were formed to identify and apprehend those involved. Investigators examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas, conducted forensic analysis at the crime scene and tracked the movements of suspects in the locality.

These efforts led police to identify and arrest the primary suspect, while a substantial portion of the stolen valuables was also recovered, the SP said.

Police are now questioning the accused to establish the full sequence of events and determine whether other persons were involved in planning or executing the burglary.

Investigators are also examining the victim's social media activity as part of the probe. Madhumitha routinely posted reels and videos showing cash, gold purchases and family travel plans, including updates about outings.

Police suspect such posts may have inadvertently revealed both the family's wealth and periods when the house was left unattended, potentially making it easier for criminals to target the property.

Further interrogation is underway, with police working to recover the remaining missing valuables and identify any accomplices involved in the crime, officials said.
