
TN CM Vijay To Visit Delhi On May 22 For Key Meetings With PM Modi
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is expected to visit New Delhi on May 22 for a three-day maiden official trip as Chief Minister, during which he is likely to hold a series of high-level meetings , a source said on Monday.
During the visit, he is expected to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discuss key state-related issues, including development priorities and requests for central assistance for multiple ongoing and proposed projects in Tamil Nadu.
He is also scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, where he is likely to raise the issue of frequent attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Coast Guard, the source added. The matter has been a long-standing concern for coastal communities in the state.
In addition, the Chief Minister is expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during his stay in the national capital. These meetings are likely to cover a wide range of administrative, financial, and security-related matters concerning Tamil Nadu.
Officials indicated that Vijay will make a detailed presentation seeking enhanced central support for various development initiatives, infrastructure expansion, and welfare schemes in the state. The discussions are also expected to focus on improving Centre-State coordination for faster implementation of key projects.
The visit is being seen as politically significant, as it marks the Chief Minister’s first major engagement with the Union government since assuming office, and is expected to set the tone for future Centre-State interactions.
