TN CM Vijay Allocates Cabinet Portfolios, Governor Arlekar Approves List

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Saturday allocated portfolios to members of his newly sworn-in council of ministers, with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar approving the recommendations, according to a press release issued by Lok Bhavan.

The portfolio allocation came a week after the 10-member council of ministers led by Vijay was sworn in on May 10 , formally marking the beginning of the new administration in the state.

In his maiden government, Vijay has retained several key departments , including public and general administration, police, women and youth welfare, welfare of children, senior citizens and differently abled persons, municipal administration, urban development and water supply.

By retaining the Home and Police portfolios , Vijay continues the long-standing trend of Tamil Nadu chief ministers keeping the crucial department under their direct control.

Veteran leader K A Sengottaiyan has been designated as the Finance Minister and will oversee the state’s financial administration and budgetary affairs.

N Anand has been assigned the Rural Development and Water Resources portfolios, while Aadhav Arjuna will oversee Public Works, including buildings, highways and minor ports, along with Sports Development.

Dr K G Arunraj has been entrusted with the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare departments.

Among other ministers, P Venkataramanan will handle Food and Civil Supplies , while R Nirmalkumar has been allocated the Energy Resources and Law portfolios.

Rajmohan will oversee School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity , while Dr TK Prabhu will handle Natural Resources, Minerals and Mines . S Keerthana has been appointed minister for Industries .

The allocation of portfolios is seen as a significant step in shaping the governance priorities of the Vijay-led Tamil Nadu government.
