TMC unveils broader, doorstep healthcare push with Sebaashray 2

In a renewed push to strengthen grassroots healthcare, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will launch the second edition of its flagship outreach initiative, ‘Sebaashray 2’, across the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency from December 1. Designed as an expanded follow-up to last year’s programme, the initiative aims to ensure that no resident is left without timely medical support, especially in regions where access to specialist care remains limited.

The party announced the launch on Saturday, noting that the two-month camp schedule will be spearheaded by TMC national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee. Through its official X handle, TMC said the outreach will bring together specialist doctors, provide free essential medicines, enable key diagnostic tests and create a streamlined referral network to ensure continuity of treatment.

The party stated that the programme reflects a “renewed pledge to deliver compassionate, reliable and quality healthcare to every household” in the constituency. Banerjee, in an earlier post, recalled that the initiative was built on the belief that healthcare is a fundamental right that must be accessible to all. He said the first edition of Sebaashray, held last year, was launched with the objective of offering free medical support not only to Diamond Harbour residents but also to people from various districts of Bengal who sought care at the camps.

Under the new schedule, Sebaashray 2 will travel across all seven Assembly segments of the constituency. The camps will run from December 1 to January 30, with each location hosting the programme for several days. The detailed schedule includes Maheshtala (Dec 1–7), Metiabruz (Dec 8–18), Budge Budge (Dec 15–21), Bishnupur (Dec 22–30), Satgachia (Jan 2–8), Falta (Jan 9–15) and Diamond Harbour (Jan 16–22).

A series of mega camps covering all Assembly segments will be organised from January 24 to 30, offering comprehensive medical services under one platform. All camps will function daily from 9 am to 5 pm, a TMC leader confirmed.

Highlighting the motive behind the renewed effort, Banerjee said Sebaashray returns “anchored in the principles of service, empathy and care for the distressed,” and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to expanding its reach to every individual in need of medical assistance.
