Tirumala Brahmotsavams Witness Cultural Extravaganza By 500 Artists

The Tirumala Srivari Brahmotsavams came alive with vibrant cultural performances as nearly 500 artists from different states showcased traditional dance forms during the Simha Vahana Seva on Thursday. The cultural programmes organised by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) added colour and energy to the festivities and attracted the attention of devotees.

According to the TTD, as many as 494 artists from 19 cultural troupes representing eight states participated in the cultural programmes held during the celebrations. Artists from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and several other states brought their regional traditions to the temple town, presenting a diverse mix of classical, folk and devotional performances.

The programmes featured several well-known Indian dance and cultural forms, including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi and Chhau. Performances depicting the Dasavatara and Navadurgas were also presented, along with Kolatam, drum ensembles and a special presentation based on Sri Rama Charitam.

The cultural celebrations had begun with another set of performances on Wednesday evening. The TTD said 504 artists from 19 troupes across eight states participated in the programmes held ahead of the Hamsa Vahana procession. Traditional dances such as Bhangra, Chholiya and Garba were among the major attractions.

Devotees also witnessed energetic drum performances, Lambadi dance, Kolatam and traditional stick-fighting demonstrations. The presence of artists representing different regions provided devotees with an opportunity to experience India's varied cultural traditions while participating in the annual religious celebrations.

The TTD said Tirumala remains a centre of religious activity throughout the year, with more than 450 festivals and ceremonial occasions conducted annually. These include daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual observances dedicated to Lord Venkateswara.

Among these celebrations, the Brahmotsavams occupy a prominent place in the temple's annual religious calendar. According to temple tradition, the festival was initiated by Lord Brahma in honour of Lord Mahavishnu.

The cultural programmes conducted alongside the Brahmotsavams have become an important feature of the celebrations, bringing together devotion, classical arts and regional folk traditions and giving devotees a broader glimpse into India's rich cultural heritage.
