Three more child deaths reported in Rajasthan’s Salumber, Health teams intensify surveillance
Fresh concern has emerged from Salumber district after three more children died over the past two days , prompting authorities to step up medical surveillance across affected villages. Officials, however, clarified that these latest fatalities are not linked to the earlier deaths of five children that are still under investigation.
According to the district health department, the recent deaths were reported from Jhallara and Lasadiya areas and have been attributed to symptoms such as fever, vomiting and diarrhoea. A four-and-a-half-year-old child from Amloda village was brought dead to a local hospital, while a two-month-old infant from Kalibheet village and a two-year-old from Mandli village succumbed after falling ill.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Mahendra Kumar Parmar stated that while the earlier five deaths, reported between April 1 and 6 in nearby villages, remain unexplained pending laboratory reports, the latest cases appear to be due to identifiable medical conditions.
Medical teams from Jaipur and Udaipur have been deployed to the region, conducting door-to-door surveys and health check-ups. More than 500 families have been screened so far, with around 20 children found to have mild symptoms and provided treatment.
The district administration has maintained a high alert, with efforts focused on early detection, treatment, and collection of samples to determine the cause behind the earlier deaths. Further investigation is ongoing as officials work to prevent any escalation of the situation.
