Three Killed, Three Injured in Kakinada Highway Accident

A tragic road accident occurred on National Highway-16 near Somavaram village in Kirlampudi mandal, Kakinada district, on Saturday morning. Around 7:30 AM, a speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV) traveling from Visakhapatnam to Jaggampeta collided with a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw.

The impact of the collision was severe. Two people died on the spot, and a third succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital. Three others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a local medical facility.

The deceased have been identified as Morta Anand Kumar (60) from Somavaram village, Kakada Raju (60) from Yaleswaram village, and Morta Kondayya (31) from Somavaram village.

According to Kakinada District SP Bindu Madhava Garikapati, the SUV driver, Jogarao, had returned from a family wedding in Visakhapatnam and apparently lost control of the vehicle due to fatigue.

No family members traveling in the car were injured. Police have registered a case and taken the driver into custody. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against reckless driving on highways.
