Three Indian students injured in Sydney Bondi beach terror attack

Three Indian students were among 40 people injured in the terrorist attack on Sydney’s Bondi Beach in Australia, according to a media report on Tuesday.

Two of the three Indian students are believed to be undergoing treatment at hospitals, The Australia Today news portal reported. The identities of the injured students have not yet been disclosed, and their exact medical condition has not been officially confirmed.

The students reportedly sustained injuries during the shooting that occurred on Sunday evening at Bondi Beach, where a public gathering was underway to mark the Jewish festival Hanukkah by the Sea . Authorities said panic broke out after gunfire erupted at the event, attended by families and tourists.

According to police, Naveed Akram (24) and his 50-year-old father allegedly opened fire on the gathering. At least 15 people were killed , including a 10-year-old child , while dozens were injured in one of the deadliest attacks in Australia in recent years.

Officials said five victims remain in critical condition , while two injured police officers are described as serious but stable. Emergency services continue to provide medical and psychological support to survivors and their families.

New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the investigation is widening as fresh information comes to light. Authorities are examining the alleged attackers’ international travel history and have also recovered extremist material, indicating possible broader links.

The Indian High Commission in Australia is understood to be in touch with local authorities and monitoring the situation closely as further details emerge.
