
Three excise officials injured in drug raid attack in Kerala, 3 booked
A case has been registered after three Excise officials were injured during a raid at a house suspected to be linked to drug peddling in Chirayinkeezhu, police said on Thursday.
The accused have been identified as Agarus, Agasi, and Jyothsan , who allegedly assaulted Excise officials Aromal, Sharan, and Gokul during a search operation at a residence in Puthukkari, Chirayinkeezhu , on Tuesday night.
According to police, the Excise Enforcement and Narcotic Special Squad conducted the search based on specific information that Agarus, a known offender involved in multiple criminal cases, had stocked MDMA at his residence.
During the operation, Agarus allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was intercepted by Excise official Aromal. In the ensuing confrontation, Agarus allegedly attacked and bit Aromal , causing injuries.
As officials Sharan and Gokul rushed to assist , the situation escalated, with Agasi and Jyothsan allegedly joining the assault on the Excise personnel. Despite the attack, the officials managed to overpower the trio and take them into custody , police said.
The injured officials were shifted to a nearby hospital , where they received medical treatment and were later discharged.
Following a complaint lodged by Aromal, police registered a case on Wednesday against the accused and have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident, officials added.
