Three dead after boat capsizes in Anakapalli reservoir

A tragic boating accident in the Raivada Reservoir of Anakapalli district claimed the lives of three people, police officials said on Monday.

According to authorities, the small boat involved was designed to carry only two passengers, but four individuals were on board at the time of the accident. The boat capsized about 150 meters from the shore on Sunday, causing three of the passengers to drown.

Only one person, identified as Jalada Prasad, survived the accident. One of the deceased has been identified as Ganjayi Jeevan, whose body has been recovered. Search operations are ongoing for the remaining two victims.

Police noted that the reservoir’s depth has made the rescue and recovery efforts challenging. Teams from the State Disaster Management Force have reached the site and are conducting search operations.
