Three Arrested With 1.34 Kg Drugs in Himachal’s Nurpur
Three persons were arrested after police recovered 1.34 kg of charas (hashish) from their possession during a vehicle inspection drive in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, officials said on Monday.
According to police, a team conducting routine patrolling and checking of suspicious vehicles near Defence Road in Kopra under Nurpur subdivision intercepted two vehicles (an Alto and a Honda BR-V) for inspection. During the search operation, officers allegedly recovered the narcotic substance from the occupants of the vehicles.
Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, Kulbhushan Verma , said a case had been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act . All three accused were taken into custody, while both vehicles used in the alleged transportation of the contraband were impounded.
The accused were identified as Saif Ali (30) , Abdullah (33) and Farooq (20) , all residents of the Churah area in Chamba district. Police are investigating the source of the recovered charas and whether the accused were linked to a wider inter-district drug supply network.
The seizure comes amid an intensified anti-narcotics campaign across Himachal Pradesh. In recent weeks, police in Kangra and Nurpur regions have reported multiple recoveries of charas and heroin, while the state police recently detained 19 alleged habitual traffickers under the PIT-NDPS Act as part of a broader crackdown on organised drug networks.
