Three Arrested in Vijayawada for Radicalizing Youth via Social Media
Vijayawada police, in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Intelligence, have arrested three men accused of spreading extremist content on social media and attempting to radicalize local youth. The operation uncovered a well-organized network , raising concerns amid heightened vigilance against online radicalization nationwide.
The arrested individuals Mohammed Rahmatulla Sharif (23) , Mirza Sohail Baig (23) , and Mohammed Danish (27) are residents of Vijayawada’s Two-Town area. Acting on credible intelligence, authorities conducted simultaneous raids on Monday, taking all three into custody.
Police say the suspects extensively circulated posts, videos, and messages promoting extremist ideology. Preliminary investigations indicate they may be part of a broader network of around 10 members operating across India , with potential links to international terrorist organizations under scrutiny.
Seized mobile phones and electronic devices have been sent for cyber forensic analysis to map the network’s full reach. Senior officials advised parents and youth to remain vigilant against hateful content circulating online.
Cases under national security provisions have been registered, and the Cyber Crime Department continues to monitor the suspects’ online activity. Authorities have intensified security patrols in crowded locations as a preventive measure.
