Thiruveer’s Papam Prathap clears last-minute censor hurdle, hits theatres today
Just hours before its theatrical debut, Papam Prathap , the latest film starring Thiruveer , faced a sudden hurdle that left fans and the film team anxious. The much-awaited rural comedy-drama entertainer ran into a last-minute certification issue, threatening its planned premiere shows.
According to reports, the Central Board of Film Certification asked the makers to obtain clearance from the Animal Welfare Board of India because the film features a scene involving an animal . Without the statutory approval confirming that no animal was harmed during filming , the film could not receive its final certificate. The delay briefly raised doubts about whether the scheduled premieres would go ahead.
Fortunately for the team, the issue was resolved just in time. After submitting the required documentation, the film received a U/A certificate , clearing the way for its paid premiere shows ahead of the official release . The film is scheduled to hit theatres on April 17 , and the team is optimistic about the response from audiences.
Directed by S. P. Durga Naresh , the film stars Payal Radhakrishna as the female lead alongside Thiruveer, with actors Ajay Ghosh, Raghu Babu, and Raasi appearing in key supporting roles. The project is produced by Rakesh Reddy Gaddam and Rudradev Madireddy , while K. M. Radhakrishnan has composed the music. The cinematography is handled by S. V. Vishweshwar , and Anwar Ali takes care of editing.
Set against the picturesque Godavari backdrop in the late 1990s , the story revolves around Prathap, a young man whose life takes an unexpected turn after marriage. In the film’s quirky premise, his wife reportedly leaves him just days after their wedding, triggering gossip and drama across the village and sending Prathap on an emotional yet humorous journey to set things right.
With its blend of humour, romance, and village drama , and a runtime of around 2 hours and 12 minutes , Papam Prathap is hoping to entertain audiences this weekend as the team finally breathes a sigh of relief after the last-minute hurdle.
