Theegala seeks fresh start at Procore

Sahith Theegala is hoping to rediscover his best form as he returns to a familiar stage at the Procore Championship, the opening event of the PGA Tour’s fall season. Formerly known as the Fortinet Championship, the Napa-based tournament marks a chance for the Indian-origin golfer to reset after a tough year disrupted by injury.

Theegala’s breakthrough on the PGA Tour came at this very event in 2023, his only win so far. He followed it with a tied-seventh finish last season. However, a neck injury in 2025 forced him to miss several tournaments, and his comeback appearances at the Open and a few other events brought little success. Now, with the fall swing offering valuable opportunities, the 26-year-old is aiming to climb back into contention.

Joining him in the field is fellow American Akshay Bhatia, who finished inside the Top-50 of the FedEx Cup standings despite mixed results this season. Bhatia also reached the second playoff event, securing his spot in next year’s Signature events. Having missed out on Ryder Cup selection, the 22-year-old is eager to make an early statement.

The Procore Championship has drawn a strong line-up, led by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Other big names include Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Russell Henley, Patrick Cantlay, JJ Spaun and Ben Griffin. For many, the tournament serves as a springboard ahead of the Ryder Cup.

With more than a dozen Top-50 players competing, Napa promises an intense start to the fall season and for Theegala, possibly a new chapter.
