Rebel Star Prabhas is all set to return to the big screen with his 24th film, The Rajasab , directed by Maruthi. Touted as a unique blend of horror, romance, and comedy, the film also stars Nidhi Agarwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar, with Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role. Music for the pan-India film is composed by S. Thaman.

Excitement is already building as the first trailer is slated to release on October 1 and will be attached to Kantara Chapter-1 in theaters from October 2. Fans can also look forward to the first single, which will drop on Prabhas’ birthday.

Originally launched in 2022 as a small-scale project, The Rajasab quickly evolved into a large-scale production. Director Maruthi reportedly paused shooting for a few days to focus on re-pre-production work, realizing the scope of the project had expanded significantly. While the film was initially expected to release in 2023, delays and lack of updates until 2024 frustrated fans, prompting social media criticism over the absence of posters and promotional material.

To manage the growing anticipation, the makers released a teaser on June 16, announcing a tentative December 5 release. The teaser’s visuals received widespread praise, turning much of the earlier online trolling into appreciation.

After four years of anticipation, fans finally received assurance from the producer that the film is ready. With a reported budget of ₹400 crore, The Rajasab is expected to release pan-India. However, it faces stiff competition from Tamil superstar Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan , which is also scheduled for a January 9 release in Tamil Nadu, raising expectations of high-stakes box office clashes similar to the 2023 release of Varisu in Telugu states.

With its Sankranti release, The Rajasab promises to deliver a festive cinematic treat for Prabhas fans, marking 23 years since the actor last had a blockbuster release during the festival season.
