The GOAT Strikes Again! Messi Hits 1,300 Goal Contributions!

Lionel Messi has once again rewritten football history. The Argentine superstar became the first player ever to record 1,300 goal contributions, combining an astonishing 896 goals with 404 assists across club and international football.

The milestone came during a commanding performance by Messi as Inter Miami reached their first-ever Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup final. In the Eastern Conference semifinals against FC Cincinnati, Miami overwhelmed their opponents 4-0, with Messi directly involved in all four goals.

Messi opened the scoring in the 19th minute after Mateo Silvetti’s cross found him, and he made no mistake in finishing. He then turned provider for the remaining three goals, orchestrating Miami’s attacks with his trademark vision and precision. Two assists were recorded for Tadeo Allende, who scored a brace, while Messi also set up Silvetti for Miami’s second goal in the 57th minute.

Despite efforts from Cincinnati’s Evander and Kevin Denkey, the home side failed to find an equaliser. Miami dominated possession at 51 per cent and controlled the game from start to finish, leaving their opponents struggling to keep pace.

This season, Messi has been unstoppable. In 28 games, he has already recorded 29 goals and 19 assists, and in 53 appearances since joining Inter Miami in 2023, he has amassed 50 goals and 35 assists.

With 1,300 goal contributions, Messi is now clearly ahead of all players in football history. Cristiano Ronaldo is next with around 1,213 goal contributions, while Robert Lewandowski, Zlatan Ibrahimović, and Karim Benzema follow, making Messi’s achievement unprecedented.
