Thala Ajith’s Red Ant racing dominates practice at 24H Barcelona

Thala Ajith, one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, is winning hearts off-screen with his remarkable achievements on the race track. His team, Ajith Kumar Racing, stunned motorsport fans by finishing first in all four practice sessions at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, ahead of the grueling 24 Hours of Barcelona endurance race scheduled from September 26–28, 2025.

During the third practice session, their #901 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992 AM class) recorded a fastest lap time of 1:44.803 over 11 laps, showing the team’s pace and consistency. These results underline Ajith’s seriousness about racing and the strength of the professional team he has built in just over a year.

The Car: Built for Endurance

The Porsche 911 GT3 R (992 generation) is a purpose-built racing machine. Powered by a 4.2-litre flat-six engine producing around 565 horsepower, it features lightweight carbon-fibre parts, advanced aerodynamics, and a cockpit designed purely for racing safety and performance. Competing in the AM (Amateur) class, it allows professional and semi-professional drivers to race together, making Ajith’s participation even more special.

Ajith Kumar co-founded his racing team in 2024, and it has already made a mark in the global endurance racing circuit. Earlier this season, the team secured a third-place finish at the 24H Dubai and a second-place podium at the 12H Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
