TGSPDCL CMD Jitesh Patil Climbs Power Pole to Check Staff Safety Practices

In a hands-on display of leadership, TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, IAS, personally climbed an electricity pole during a field inspection to check whether frontline power staff were following prescribed safety practices.

The unusual inspection took place at Malkaram village in the Chevella section as part of the ‘Basti Bata’ programme. Rather than limiting the exercise to meetings and departmental reviews, Patil went directly to the field to understand the working conditions and challenges faced by electricity personnel engaged in work on power lines and poles.

The CMD interacted with field employees and sought details about the safety precautions they take while carrying out their duties. He also examined how effectively workers were using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, safety equipment and other protective measures designed to minimise risks during field operations.

Patil stressed that employee safety must remain the foremost priority in every electricity-related operation. He directed officials and field personnel to strictly adhere to the safety protocols prescribed by the organisation and ensure that all necessary precautions are taken before beginning work.

He also made it clear that the organisation would not compromise on the safety of its employees under any circumstances. The inspection was aimed not only at identifying gaps in safety practices but also at reinforcing the importance of a strong safety culture among field staff.

By climbing the pole himself and observing the work environment first-hand, Patil sought to demonstrate that safety instructions must be followed in practice and not merely discussed during official reviews. His direct involvement also conveyed a message to employees that the organisation's leadership recognises the risks associated with their work and stands behind them.

The field-level intervention by Jitesh V. Patil thus served as both a safety inspection and a demonstration of leadership, placing the well-being of frontline electricity workers at the centre of the exercise.
