The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has transferred more than 9,300 cases falling under the territorial jurisdiction of the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) after conducting a detailed verification of records, an official said on Friday.

According to the Commission, a total of 9,378 cases were identified as pertaining to Andhra Pradesh jurisdiction. Following scrutiny of the records, all the cases were placed before the Commission’s benches, which passed separate orders transferring them to APSHRC on territorial jurisdiction grounds.

An official of TGHRC told PTI that the verification process was undertaken in detail to determine which cases legally fall within the purview of APSHRC. “Upon detailed verification of records, the Commission identified a total of 9,378 cases pertaining to the territorial jurisdiction of APSHRC and separate orders were passed transferring all the said cases,” the official said.

The Commission informed APSHRC about the transfer through a letter dated March 20 and requested it to nominate an officer to take custody of the case records. The records have already been packed and kept ready for handover, the official added.

According to a recent press release issued by TGHRC, copies of the communication were also sent to the Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of the General Administration Departments of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments.

TGHRC further stated that the complete list of all the transferred cases has been uploaded on its official website under the heading “List of cases transferred to APSHRC territorial accessible jurisdiction.”

The Commission clarified that it has now ceased to have jurisdiction over the 9,378 cases and that all further communications, grievances, representations and follow-up actions relating to these matters should henceforth be addressed to APSHRC.

Officials noted that many of these cases were registered during the undivided Andhra Pradesh period, and several petitioners continue to approach TGHRC seeking updates regarding their complaints.

The notification, the Commission said, was issued for the information of the general public, particularly complainants connected with the transferred cases.
