T’gana achieves medical milestone with kidney transplants at NIMS

NIMS (Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences) has achieved a remarkable feat by performing three kidney transplants in just 10 hours - one from a live donor and two from deceased donors. This achievement highlights the hospital’s growing expertise in organ transplantation and advanced medical care.

The Health Minister, Damodara Raja Narasimha, praised the NIMS doctors for their dedication and exceptional performance. With this milestone, NIMS has completed 141 kidney transplants in 2025 alone. In addition, the hospital has crossed 400 robotic surgeries and completed over 20,000 urological procedures in the past two years.

This achievement underscores Telangana’s leadership in medical excellence and showcases the state’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare services to its citizens.

Government support has also played a role in enabling hospitals like NIMS to reach such milestones. Funding for advanced medical equipment, training programs for doctors and nurses, and clear policies for organ donation and transplantation have created the right environment for success.
