Tension in Kamareddy: KTR condemns attack on BRS candidate

Tension erupted in Ellareddy constituency of Kamareddy district following the local panchayat election results, when a BRS candidate was allegedly attacked by Congress supporters. K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), Working President of the BRS, strongly condemned the incident, calling the actions of Congress leaders “goondaism.”

The incident occurred in Somarpet village, where BRS panchayat candidate Bitla Balaraju was sitting with his family and supporters outside his home after the elections. Reports claim that the winning Congress candidate, along with local leaders, arrived at the scene in a tractor and deliberately ran it over Balaraju and his supporters. Several people sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents.

Upon learning about the attack, KTR contacted Ellareddy constituency in-charge and former MLA Jajala Surender to get detailed information. He checked on the condition of the injured BRS leaders and assured the party’s full support. KTR emphasized that such attacks should not intimidate party members and that BRS would pursue legal action against the perpetrators.

KTR also spoke directly with the Kamareddy district SP, urging immediate and strict action against those responsible. He warned that if Congress leaders continued to carry out violent attacks under the assumption of political immunity, it could lead to dangerous situations. KTR demanded that criminal cases be filed promptly and the accused arrested without delay.

Highlighting the potential risks to public safety, KTR warned that continued violence could destabilize peace and that the government would be held accountable if law and order broke down. He stressed that it was the responsibility of the police to control leaders who acted beyond the law.
