The Telugu film fraternity on Sunday paid rich tributes to legendary filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao on his 79th birth anniversary , recalling his immense contribution to Indian cinema and his enduring legacy as a storyteller of the masses.

Widely regarded as one of the most prolific directors in Indian cinema, Dasari helmed over 150 films, earning a place in the Limca World Records . His filmography reflects a rare blend of artistic depth and mass appeal, with memorable works such as Prem Nagar, Tata Manavadu, Gorintaku, and the National Award-winning Meghasandesam. Films like Osey Ramulamma and MLA Yedukondalu further highlighted his commitment to addressing social issues such as inequality, oppression, and political accountability.

Known for weaving strong social messages into commercially successful narratives, Dasari’s storytelling resonated deeply with audiences across generations. His cinema often focused on the struggles of common people, women’s empowerment, and systemic injustices, making his work both relevant and impactful.
