Telangana’s Tribal Spectacle: Minister Invites Governor to Medaram Jatara

Governor Girish Kumar Dev Varma was courteously received by State Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar at Lok Bhavan . During the meeting, the minister extended a warm invitation to the Governor to attend the world-famous tribal festival, Medaram Sammakka–Sarlamma Jatara .

Minister Laxman Kumar highlighted the cultural and traditional significance of the festival, which stands as a symbol of Telangana’s heritage. He explained that the Jatara, held once every two years, draws millions of devotees from across India and abroad and reflects the faith and customs of the tribal communities. The stories of Sammakka and Sarlamma are deeply intertwined with the pride and identity of the Telangana people.

The minister also briefed the Governor on the arrangements being made by the government and the facilities provided for the devotees during the festival. Responding positively, Governor Girish Kumar Dev Varma expressed keen interest in the festival and its significance.

The Medaram Sammakka–Sarlamma Maha Jatara 2026 is set to begin on January 28 and will continue for four days until January 31 , culminating with the sacred entry of the goddesses into the forest.
