Telangana's liberation history should not be forgotten

Former Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao stated that the history of Telangana's liberation should not be forgotten and that governments should not neglect it. He mentioned that in the past, BJP leaders from Hyderabad to Delhi spearheaded the movement. Vidyasagar Rao was the chief guest at the launch of the book "September 17 is Definitely Liberation," written by Bhaskara Yogi, in Hyderabad. The event was attended by BJP Telangana State President Ramchandra Rao, Sreevardhan, and other leaders.

History should be in textbooks

Vidyasagar Rao said that Bhaskara Yogi has already written many books and given great speeches to help everyone learn about the traditions of Indian culture. He explained that the movement for Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 began in 1998, and BJP leaders considered it their life's work. What were once office-limited programs later turned into public rallies, and Lal Krishna Advani attended as the chief guest and honored more than 120 freedom fighters.

He stated that it is inappropriate for the history of Telangana's liberation to be forgotten, noting that BJP leaders and workers enthusiastically led the movement from Hyderabad to Delhi. He said the movement continued with the demand that this history be included in children's textbooks and that statues of great people like Komaram Bheem and Shoaibullah Khan be erected in Hyderabad. He revealed that the struggle against the Nizam's system was beyond party lines and that many people made sacrifices.

Celebration under the central government's aegis

Vidyasagar Rao said there is no need to accept the arguments of secularists and that Hyderabad State was liberated under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He explained that the British and Nizam governments tried to imprison freedom fighters, and many were held in jails like Andaman-Nicobar and Kalapani, as well as the Nallamala forests. He stated that Hyderabad was under Nizam's rule from August 15, 1947, to September 17, 1948, and was liberated through the Police Action.

He announced that this time, the September 17 Liberation Day celebrations would be officially inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh under the aegis of the Central Government. He noted that many leaders in Hyderabad fought for freedom in the 18th and 19th centuries, but their contributions were neglected in being passed on to future generations. He explained that tragic events occurred in Telangana, many people lost their lives in the 1969 Telangana movement, and social differences continued after joining Andhra Pradesh. He suggested that opportunities for Telangana's youth be increased. He concluded by saying that the book written by Bhaskara Yogi clarifies the history and struggle.
