At the annual SuchirIndia Foundation’s “Sankalp Divas” held on November 28, Balaji Tarini — popularly known as the “ Telangana Weatherman ” — was felicitated with the prestigious Sankalp Sanjeevani Puraskar by former Vice‑President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu. The award recognises his dedicated weather‑forecasting services over the past six years, benefiting farmers, rural communities, and urban citizens across Telangana.

As the chief guest, Venkaiah Naidu praised Balaji Tarini, saying, “His contributions are commendable. By delivering real‑time climate updates to the public and carefully reading the data released by the IMD, he alerts people in both urban and rural communities. The motivation behind his idea is inspiring, and his intention to serve people selflessly is remarkable. In today’s society, we need more people like him.”

Balaji Tarini expressed his gratitude, stating that the recognition motivates him to further strengthen his weather‑service efforts across Telangana, especially in rural and agrarian areas. He emphasised that accurate and timely weather updates can help farmers plan better and communities prepare for changing weather patterns.

The Sankalp Divas — held every year on November 28 by SuchirIndia Foundation — aims to recognise and honour “social‑service champions” who contribute significantly to society’s welfare. Past recipients have included prominent social‑service personalities, underscoring the prestige associated with the award.

With this honour, Balaji Tarini hopes to deepen his commitment to public service, pledging to expand his forecasting outreach and continue serving communities across Telangana.
