Telangana unveils landmark road development plan worth ₹60,799 Crore

Telangana has approved its largest-ever road infrastructure project, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy giving the green signal to a mega plan that aims to transform the state’s transport landscape. Valued at ₹60,799 crore, the project is expected to become a milestone in Telangana’s development journey, attracting multi-national investments and generating employment opportunities for thousands of youth, the CM said.

Hyderabad–Vijayawada Eight-Lane Expressway

A major highlight of the plan is the expansion of the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway into an eight-lane expressway, at an estimated cost of ₹10,400 crore. The upgraded highway is expected to improve connectivity between the two cities and facilitate industrial growth along the corridor.

Regional Ring Road to Boost State Transport

Another centerpiece is the Regional Ring Road (RRR), estimated at ₹36,000 crore. Officials say the project will significantly enhance freight and passenger transport in the state, providing a modern, efficient transport network that supports Telangana’s economic ambitions.

Rural Roads Get Priority

The government has also emphasized the development of rural roads, including the construction of new routes in villages lacking connectivity and the doubling of existing single-lane roads. These projects will be implemented district-wise to ensure balanced regional development.

Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) Projects

Under the plan, ₹11,399 crore has been allocated for projects under the Hybrid Annuity Model. Tendering for these projects will be initiated soon, officials said.

Mannanuru–Srisailam Elevated Corridor

A 52-kilometre elevated corridor connecting Mannanuru and Srisailam, passing through environmentally sensitive areas, is planned at a cost of ₹8,000 crore. The corridor is expected to boost tourism and provide easier access for devotees visiting the region.

Greenfield Highway from Hyderabad to Bandar Port

The plan also includes a Greenfield highway linking Hyderabad’s ‘Future City’ with Bandar Port, with an estimated investment of ₹20,000 crore. According to the CM, this route will transform the state’s economic landscape and strengthen connectivity for trade and logistics.

Active Oversight and Historical Significance

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy described the approval as “historic and unprecedented.” He noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka personally review progress every 15 days. The minister expressed gratitude for the leadership’s trust, calling the initiative a significant opportunity in his political career.

Expected Beneficiaries

Districts such as Yadadri, Suryapet, Ranga Reddy, Siddipet, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Khammam, and Warangal are expected to be the primary beneficiaries. At the same time, the rural road upgrades across other districts aim to ensure equitable development throughout Telangana.
