
Telangana to Provide 100% Subsidy Sewing Machines to BC Women
The Telangana government has taken a key decision towards the empowerment of Backward Classes (BC) women . To promote self-employment among skilled BC women, the government has issued orders to supply automatic sewing machines with 100% subsidy . The scheme aims to enhance productivity and enable women to emerge as self-reliant entrepreneurs .
As per the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , the decision was taken to improve the livelihoods of women from weaker sections , said BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar . The Minister reviewed the implementation of the scheme at a meeting held on Saturday with BC Welfare Secretary Balamayadevi , BC Corporation MD Mallayya Battu , and other senior officials.
Under the scheme, 1,000 eligible women from each constituency will be selected and provided sewing machines on a full subsidy basis . Applications will be invited soon . The Minister stated that the selection process will be conducted in a transparent manner under the supervision of district collectors . Alongside distribution, the BC Welfare Department is also designing special skill development programmes to enhance employment opportunities for unemployed youth.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said, “Our government’s objective is to provide self-employment to women from weaker sections and help them achieve financial stability. Automatic sewing machines will enable women to expand their tailoring businesses.”
The decision has been welcomed by BC women’s organisations across the state .
