The Telangana government will establish special degree colleges for minorities in the headquarters of 10 districts, with a strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) , skill development and job-oriented education, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced.

The decision was taken during a high-level minority welfare review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on Friday. The proposed institutions are aimed at transforming traditional higher education into employment-focused learning hubs , equipping students with practical skills aligned with modern industry requirements.

According to officials, the colleges will integrate AI training, digital technologies, and vocational skill development programmes , ensuring students are better prepared for emerging job markets. The government intends to move away from purely conventional degree courses and instead focus on direct employability outcomes .

The Chief Minister also directed officials to prepare a dedicated scheme offering incentives to minority students , similar to those currently extended to meritorious students from BC, SC and ST communities. A structured programme will be developed to support academic excellence and higher education access among minority youth.

In a key administrative move, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to identify minority candidates who have qualified in Group-1, Group-2 and Group-3 services and induct them into the Minority Welfare Department . These candidates will be mentored and assigned responsibilities to help them understand welfare schemes and improve programme implementation.

The Chief Minister also ordered the timely release of honorariums to Imams and Mouzams , stressing administrative efficiency in welfare delivery.

He further directed that land be allocated for Khabarstans (burial grounds) wherever government land is available, addressing long-standing community requirements.

As part of the broader Musi Rejuvenation project , the Chief Minister proposed the construction of a mosque, church, Gurudwara, and temple within the development framework. These structures, he said, should not only serve religious purposes but also function as spaces to promote understanding of different cultures, reflecting Telangana’s composite “Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb.”

The initiative is part of the state government’s wider push to strengthen education infrastructure while promoting inclusive development and social harmony across Telangana.
