Telangana to boost tourism through PPP model: Minister Jupally
Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has announced that the state government aims to make Telangana a leading tourist destination in India. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the government has introduced a new tourism policy designed to create jobs, boost the economy, and attract both domestic and international tourists.
Minister Jupally highlighted plans to develop some of the state’s historic temples and heritage sites into major spiritual and cultural tourism hubs. In Adilabad, the ancient Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is being considered for development with improved infrastructure, roads, and accommodation facilities to attract more visitors. Similarly, proposals are underway for enhancing boating facilities and a ropeway at the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada.
In Siricilla, pending construction work at the Haritha Hotel will be completed to provide better accommodation for tourists. Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar and Chowmahalla Palace are also set to receive special attention, with plans to attract both domestic and international visitors. During the annual “Miss World” contest, participants are encouraged to visit Telangana’s cultural and historical sites to showcase the state globally.
The minister stressed that the government is committed to making Telangana a comprehensive tourism hub. Initiatives include water sports and boating facilities at Nizam Sagar in Kamareddy, and developing heritage sites like Koulas Fort and Nagannapeta Well. Projects are also being proposed for Basara’s Gnana Saraswati Temple and Dichpally’s Khilla Ramalayam to align with tourism development goals.
Additionally, the government plans to develop the Sri Ram Sagar backwater region into a tourist spot, with boating facilities, hotel renovations, and other infrastructure upgrades. The minister expressed optimism that Telangana tourism will reach new heights in the coming years, after years of neglect due to the absence of effective policies.
The new tourism policy under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also aims to attract domestic and international investors through incentives under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Events like tourism conclaves and global summits are being organized to encourage investment.
Minister Jupally also criticized the previous BRS government for leaving projects incomplete, calling it a betrayal of the people. He accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of leaving the state in debt and selling assets under schemes like Rythu Bandhu. The current government has completed several welfare projects in two years and plans to implement the remaining programs in six guaranteed areas.
The minister added that despite attempts by the opposition to stir regional sentiments, the government remains committed to transparency and development, asserting that criticism from leaders who avoid legislative debate lacks credibility.
