Telangana Targets Global Investments in Automotive and EV Sectors: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar

Telangana is stepping up efforts to attract global investments in the automotive and electric vehicle (EV) sectors, aiming to establish itself as a leading destination for automobile manufacturing and emerging mobility technologies, Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said.

As part of the preparations for the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, the state government has constituted a dedicated Executive Council for the automotive and EV industries. Chaired by Prabhakar, the council will bring together representatives of leading companies, industry bodies and other key stakeholders. Around 25 industry representatives have already agreed to join the initiative.

The council's first meeting will be held on November 11 at the Ministers' Conference Hall in the Telangana Secretariat. The meeting will follow a hybrid format, enabling both physical and virtual participation.

Discussions will cover existing projects, new investment proposals, company expansion plans and emerging business opportunities in the automotive and EV ecosystem. The government will also encourage leading companies to participate in the Investment Expo being organised alongside the Global Summit.

Another key objective is to gather industry feedback on government policies, infrastructure requirements and challenges affecting business operations. Suggestions from stakeholders will help identify measures to improve the investment climate and support industrial growth.

The council will also finalise topics for dedicated discussions on automotive and EV industries during the Global Summit. Strengthening coordination between the government and private sector will remain a major priority.

Aujad Sheikh, Director of Logistics, Supply Chain, Automotive and EV at the Industries and Commerce Department, is coordinating the meeting arrangements with the concerned teams. The Information and Public Relations Department and the Industries Department's media and communications teams are also working on publicity arrangements following the Chief Secretary's directions.

Prabhakar said the meeting would help develop a clear roadmap for attracting global investments and strengthening Telangana's automotive and EV ecosystem through active industry participation and government-industry partnerships.
