Telangana has emerged as a model state in paddy procurement , Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttham Kumar Reddy announced. So far, the state government has procured 71.64 lakh metric tonnes of paddy , generating transactions worth ₹19,000 crore . Over 15 lakh farmers have directly benefited from this massive procurement, a scale unmatched by any other state in the country.

Addressing a meeting on the Rabi paddy procurement action plan , the minister stated that the system is functioning smoothly, with no room for lapses. He warned that rice mills defaulting on paddy allocations would no longer be allotted grain. As part of strengthening legal oversight, the minister also released the guidebook “Judicial Enforcement Guidelines for Civil Supplies Cases.”

Minister Uttham Kumar Reddy highlighted that the government spends around ₹38,000 crore annually on farmers, ensuring robust financial security for them. Through the Public Distribution System, 85% of the state’s population receives 6 kg of high-quality rice per month , further strengthening the state’s food distribution network. Using locally grown rice also ensures additional support to Telangana’s farmers.

The minister further announced measures to boost paddy exports , including incentives for growers, and plans to increase storage capacity with steel silos . He confirmed that dryers and paddy cleaners will be installed at all procurement centers. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for lapses , he assured full cooperation to honest mills and comprehensive support for farmers .
