Telangana Sets One-Month Deadline to Clear Pending GO 59 Applications
The Telangana government has directed district collectors to clear pending applications for land regularisation under GO 59 within one month, offering relief to applicants seeking regularisation of government land measuring 500 square yards or less.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced the decision after reviewing the progress with senior officials at the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Friday. He said the Revenue Department had issued Memo No. 48030 in accordance with previously issued government orders, including GOs 14, 22, 29 and 41.
The decision is part of the government's efforts to fulfil Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's assurances in the Legislative Assembly on September 16 regarding pending property-related issues under Section 22-A, which restricts the registration of certain properties.
Collectors have been instructed to verify applications thoroughly, including original land records, applicants' eligibility and the extent of land proposed for regularisation. Any irregularities or violations must be examined under the applicable rules. Ponguleti said the process had been suspended during the previous government's tenure following reports of irregularities. Officials have been directed to prevent such lapses from recurring.
Cases in which conveyance deeds have already been issued must also be scrutinised. Eligible applicants should receive justice, while cases pending in courts must be decided in accordance with the respective judicial orders.
The government is simultaneously accelerating the resolution of 22-A property registration problems. Steps are being taken to facilitate registration of houses, plots and flats that have approvals from GHMC, HMDA, DTCP or municipal authorities but remain on the 22-A list.
The measures also cover long-pending Urban Land Ceiling applications and patta lands awaiting completion of the Non-Agricultural Lands Assessment (NALA) process.
Ponguleti said a high-level committee was formed within 24 hours of the Chief Minister's assurance. Memos were subsequently issued under GOs 118 and 76.
The government is working to resolve 10 to 12 categories of property-related issues through a fast-track mechanism. Six orders have already been issued, including the committee's formation.
Revenue Secretary D.S. Lokesh Kumar and Stamps and Registrations Inspector General Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu attended the meeting.
